We are very pleased to introduce the artists who will be living and working at the Japanisches Haus Leipzig as part of our Creative in Residence program between May 2026 and May 2027.
The selected artists are Akiko Kuniyoshi, Junki Ogawa, Ami Isshiki, Wakaba Kataoka, and Akihito Noro. During their time in Leipzig, they will develop their own artistic projects, work on site, and engage with the Japanisches Haus, the local cultural scene, and the public.
Our open call received 22 applications in total. The selection process took place over several rounds of discussions within the team of the Japanisches Haus as well as with artists from our network. In addition to the artistic quality of the submitted works, particular attention was given to the proposed projects for the residency, their connection to the program of the house, and the potential for exchange with the local cultural community.
The decision was not easy, as many of the submitted projects were highly compelling and promising. We would therefore like to sincerely thank all applicants for their interest, their carefully prepared proposals, and their trust in our program.
We are very much looking forward to welcoming the selected artists to Leipzig and are excited about the projects, encounters, and new impulses that will emerge during the residency.
